News Letter 2013:
Greetings Everyone,
It is hard to believe it has been a year since our last letter to you. Much has happened since that time. Global Adoption Foundation (GAF) has had many struggles to overcome in this past year and still faces many in this coming year. However, we believe that with your continued, and increased, support we can carry on our mission to finance adoptions.
Our website is finally up and ready. We are excited with the opportunities this will bring in connecting with everyone and sharing more consistently what is happening with the organization. Check us out on Facebook and like our page: (http://www.facebook.com/GlobalAdoptionFoundation). Also, take a look at our website where you can donate directly through Paypal, and read about the organization and families we have helped (http://www.globaladoptionfoundation.com).
As stated in the beginning of this letter, we have faced many challenges with the organization this year. The biggest of these is the decrease in our funding. We were able to help three families this year, and do not look at this as a small feat as the contributions to these families made a huge difference in their adoption process. We desire to do more in this coming year and hope that you can contribute to this endeavor.
How can you help? There are many ways you can help the organization, whether through financial gifts or volunteering your time and skills. We are looking for people who have a passion for adoption and a desire to help make a change in this world through supporting the cause of adoption. Here is a list of just a few practical ways you can help:
Thank you,

Starting A New Year
Dear Partners,
Thank you for your support in this past year! It has been a year of transition for the organization and we are very excited for what lies ahead. As many of you may, or may not be aware, there has been a few changes made over this past year to the foundation. The transition of directors in the beginning of the year from Nancy Dubois to Deidre Weeks has brought Operation Starfish into a new phase in its existence. Though we are facing many logistical changes, we are still committed to the same goals and purpose for the foundation and are excited for the changes that our taking places currently. These changes will open up the foundation to a greater number of people and help in the over all goal of raising money to help families in need by offsetting adoption expenses.
Our name has been officially changed from Operation Starfish to Global Adoption Foundation (GAF). The main reason for this change is to make sure that our name can be copy righted, and be more accessible to those searching for us on the Internet. Our previous name had been used by many organizations, some of which were related to adoption. This made it confusing to distinguish who we were online. With our new name we will be launching a website and be able to connect to you through social media such as Facebook and Twitter. These forms of communication will help in the growth and support of the foundation.
Over this past year we have been able to help five families with substantial grants, all because of your generosity. These families have voiced how without support of GAF, they would not have been able to complete their adoption process. The stories and letters we receive are truly moving and we desire to share a portion of one them with you.
This family adopted a little girl from Bulgaria, who was diagnosed with congenital glaucoma and was basically blind. Much to her new families surprise upon visiting her in Bulgaria, they found that she was being given perscription drops which were helping to restore her sight to a degree. The doctor in Bulgaria told them that their new daughter’s sight could be almost completely restored through corrective surgery. This is what this family had to say in a letter they wrote to GAF upon returning home.
“We can't thank you enough for your role in this. Your financial support and your prayers have helped us get to this place. You, by the grace of God and through His will in your life, have helped build our family. You've been His hands and feet, giving this little girl hope that she never had before.”
As we launch our website and become more connected through social media, we will be able to have an outlet where these stories can be continually shared with you, so you can see first hand what a difference your contributions are making.
We thank you again for your support and can’t wait to work with you again in this coming year, bringing together more families around the love and support of people who value the processes of adoption.
